At A Perfect Game we don’t have any special bat testing machines-just a radar gun and a batting tee. We measure ball exit speed off of a batting tee. We test our bats with various core balls and various swing speeds. All bat testing is done by me, Milli, at our indoor training facility at A Perfect Game. This review was done with 40 core limited flight balls and swing speed that averages around 300 foot ball flight. My two favorite bats right now are both maxing out at the same exit speed and both have about the same consistency.

First is the Easton SRV2 Synergy Reveal. This bat is Super hot right out of the wrapper, no break in needed. The first 25 balls hit measured the same as the balls hit after 300 hits-give or take a couple of MPH. Cheaters need not buy this bat. If you roll or shave this bat, it will change to the color white. We never test rolled or shaved bats at A Perfect Game. All of our bats have hit only softballs and nothing else! My personal opinion is that if you feel you need to roll or shave your bat to win or even just to compete, you have already lost. Yes, rolling your bat is cheating! It’s in the ASA rule book plain as day. If you hit balls instead of rolling your bat, you will be improving your swing as well as breaking in your bat. Again, this bat is very hot out of the wrapper and needs no break in time. The Synergy SRV2 Reveal is a can’t miss bat, hot, durable and has a great feel. I LOVE IT!!

The other ASA bat that I am having fun with right now is the Louisville Slugger Triton. Yeah, Louisville Slugger, TPS! TPS has been off the mark a bit with their slow pitch bats since the black Nexus went away. Now they are back and I am very impressed! The Triton has the same exit speed as the Synergy but has a different feel. Not as soft of a feel as the Synergy but I like the slightly more abrasive feel. It gives me better feed back on how clean I hit it. It also has been very durable. I have 500 plus hits on mine and no signs of wear at all. The TPS Triton has a much better paint job than most any bat I have used in the last 20 plus years. Mine looks like it has hardly been used. Maybe it’s just the silver color but it still looks new! I have always liked the balanced feel of Louisville Slugger but the performance of their ASA bats has been down in the last few years. It’s also a can’t miss bat and I think it will get TPS back on the ASA map. The USSSA Triton is even hotter. It’s a jaw dropper! All I could say was WOW, this feels like my old black Nexus. The USSSA Triton did take around 75 balls to wake up, but did it ever, look out pitchers!!!

Back to ASA bats, The Easton SRV2 Synergy Reveal and the Louisville Slugger TPS SB91T Triton are my favorites for ASA play in 2009. This review is backed up by the customers that have tried or purchased these bats. Not one bad review on either one of these two bats. What do you think of them? Shoot us an e-mail and put your two cents in!!! Have fun out there and keep on hustling.
